HL-TAG - Terms of Reference
The main tasks of the High Latitude Working Group are:
Validation
- To Validate and quantify the L2P SST observations for the High Latitudes
- Address the choice of a reference sensor
- To validate the satellite retrievals in the marginal ice zone (MIZ)
- To stimulate the gathering of validating observations in these regions
Development
- Develop methods for MIZ retrieval inclusion in level 4 products.
- To address algorithm specific issues related to the special atmospheric conditons in the Arctic.
Other
- To quantify the extent and frequency of diurnal warming in the high latitudes
- To follow the developments within detection of sea ice detection and ice surface temperatures.
